Camino Travel Center now Open

The Camino Travel Center is now open for business!

The Camino Travel Center is located in Santiago de Compostela and we are here to serve pilgrims and tourists with their travels to Santiago de Compostela. We are set up as a travel agency, and can therefore offer a wide variety of services some of them listed below.

In Santiago de Compostela – once you arrive in Santiago stop by our office to see what activities are happening. We will offer a direct bus service to Finisterre, a few hours in a Spa or stroll the streets of old town Santiago with an English speaking guide.

Pilgrim Website Colaboration

A few weeks ago I went to London for the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Confraternity of Saint James (CSJ). During one of our meetings the CSJ and the owner of the Camino de Santiago Picture pages and myself decided to start to collaborate more closely with cross links to the various section of our webpages.

Camino de Santiago forum

Our three sites really does compliment eachother well. My site has interaction and discussion. The CSJ pages are full of more static, but very usefull, information. The picture pages describes the various caminos in its own way.

So all in all, this new colaboration should be good for everyone.

New site for IDEGA

idega

Just finished a new site for the institute that I work for at the University of Santiago de Compostela, IDEGA. They wanted simple, and that is what we did. I think it turned out pretty nice.

www.pilgrim-photo.com

After the upgrade of the forum to phpbb3 and the Wiki, I have decided to spin off the photo album that I had in the forum to a new site, www.pilgrim-photo.com .

The goal is to create a site with photos from the various camino and the various sites along the camino. …and that makes me the owner of yet another pilgrim related website.

Upgrades to Wiki and Forum

The Wiki

Last night I upgraded the Pilgrim Wiki to the latest release. Had some spam problems the last few days that forced the upgrade. Not sure what is best, open the forum up for everyone to edit (without registration) or “closing it down” to try to avoid spam. By far the easiest for legit users would be to not have to register… but for now I have it “locked down”. leave a comment below if you have an opinion on this.

 The Forum

The phpbb 3 RC was released a few weeks ago. I have it installed in a sub directory on the Santiago Today site, waiting for the Album mod to be released. Once we have that the switch should not be too difficult. Some of the new features of this new version of the forum are:

  • Possibility to attach documents to forum posts.
  • Chat: Chat LIVE with other pilgrims

I hope to make the switch to this new version soon.
