Running an online community is starting to become less fun and more work. Nothing wrong with this, it is how it is. With 160.000 visits a month from about 80.000 different people, just the maintenance of the server and following up with users that have problems logging in is a few hours a day. Then we have the odd “crazy” user that takes up another hour or two. I miss the time that I used to have to read posts and help pilgrims, but these days I have no time. I have great moderators that help me out, without them this would not work. The good thing is that donations has increased the last few weeks, that makes it all worth it. I can tell my wife that I can help out with the mortgage payment. Earlier I spent hours on the site with nothing to show for economically. This has changed now, so thank you all for this. In the end I can say that I have created my own position at my own little company. This I am happy for. I always hoped I could make a living of helping pilgrims, and I am now really close to making this happen. Especially if I add the luggage storage and the badges I sell.
Anyway, life is good. Santiago is great in winter… and Buen Camino!
